RECAP: “Young Reverie” by Kyle Wright
A few words describe the ambiance of the event…TRUE ALOHA. Surrounded by his supporters of close friends and family such a great feeling overcame the shop that night, the aloha spirit was definitely there. The night before (Friday) we were setting up till about 4am but all was in gods plan! Kyle’s grandma, his wife Tiffany and mother all helped with the final touches. And during the set up process i got to chat with his grandma who is my grandma’s first cousin! Long story short my grandma was adopted so knowing our biological family was pretty slim to none unless you were my mom but just so happened we started talking about family names and relatives. Then my mom shows up 1 am in the morning with photos from 25 years ago at one of the few family reunions we got to go to which pretty much sums up everything. So i’m so stoked and very surprised to find out friends Kyle and Tiffany for eight years were my blood ohana! God works in mysterious ways! The opening reception was a blast and I gotta shout-out Kyle, Tiffany and the family for all their hard works and efforts, Uncle for making the best desert ever “Magic Squares”!! a must have chocolate-chip-coconut-brownie-cookie thing YUMMM!!, my mom for covering the shop/baby sitting TJ that day while i finish up errands, Prototype Kev for folding the shirts and setting them up (you saved me time-mahalo!), Kyle’s friend and photographer Jon Nishikata (instagram @xeroimpak_808) for taking photos (and for teaching me about my camera!) and to all our family and friends it was a success because of all of your support! “Young Reverie” Kyle Wright photo installation will be on display and for sale July 20th – August 20th.
